Charles Baker's Reading of "Christmas Then: Ten Stories"
Thursday, December 19th
2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Enjoy hot cocoa and light refreshments as we listen to a short reading from retired Bridwell Library cataloger, Charles Baker’s new book, “Christmas Then: Ten Stories.”
During Charles’ thirty years as a cataloger at Bridwell Library, he wrote Christmas-themed short stories for the holiday supplements of a Dallas newspaper, which caught the eye of an editor at Scribner’s. Approximately thirty of his essays were subsequently published. Oxford University Press then asked Charles to write nine essays on the life and work of authors ranging from James Fenimore Cooper to Truman Capote to J.K. Rowling. Those chapters were accepted and published in “The Oxford Encyclopedia of American Literature.” Now, enjoying his leisure, Charles has gathered ten of his Chirstmas stories into one book titled “Christmas Then: Ten Stories.”
Copies of the book, signed by Charles, will be available for purchase.
