In conjunction with the Hawn Gallery exhibition, Torn Apart: Punk + New Wave Graphics, Fashion, and Culture, 1976 – 1986, David A. Ensminger, college instructor (Lee College) and author, will speak on the history of punk music, its diversity and culture. He is the author of several books covering both American roots music and punk rock history, most recently Roots Punk: An Oral and Visual History (2023). Tim Angell, SMU’s DEA Director of Corporate Engagement and punk fan, will moderate this lively talk examining the fans as much as the music.
