Join us for a documentary film screening and panel discussion featuring

"The Man Who Wrote Lonesome Dove."

From "The Last Picture Show" to "Lonesome Dove," from "Terms of Endearment" to "Brokeback Mountain," Oscar-winning Texas writer Larry McMurtry didn't just chronicle the American West -- he dismantled mythology.

For the first time, an astonishingly candid, never-before-seen 2007 interview -- captured at his home in tiny Archer City, Texas -- is revealed.

"The Man Who Wrote Lonesome Dove" reveals a brilliant, conflicted man caught between the Texas he knew and the myth the world preferred, as the culture that shaped him quietly disappeared.

Based on the biography "Western Star: The Life and Legends of Larry McMurtry" by David Streitfeld, the film features insight from McMurtry's childhood friends and family, as well as the final interview with director Peter Bogdanovich.
